Lina and I experienced our first local “outing,” so to speak, in the Duke Chronicle, Duke University’s daily student newspaper. Reporter Anna Koelsch emailed me the other day because she was writing about the Durham Arts Council’s Emerging Artists Grant program, and I was one of the recipients. I assume she chose me at random. At any rate, she didn’t know what my writing project was about. So I told her. Funny, she recognized our story because she’d read my article in the New York Times. We did a quick phone interview the other day, and here’s her article, which is in today’s paper. A correction: The person I’m working with on my book, Melissa Delbridge, is no longer a Duke librarian but a full-time writer and teacher and coach with an amazing stupendous outstanding book of her own, “Family Bible.”
