Push for voter ID affects transgender folks, too

Here’s something I wouldn’t have thought of: the move in some states (including my home state of NC) to require photo IDs in order to vote can impact transgender people. Of course it makes sense. My eyes were opened thanks to this op-ed piece in the News & Observer (Raleigh, NC), written by Jody Herman, manager of Transgender Research at the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, and Holning Lau, associate professor of Law at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. I didn’t know about the Williams Institute at UCLA, so I’m happy to spread the word about that, too!
